MooseCreek Park @ Sand City South (06/17/23)

Shots by Mia Baric

Sand City South, located in Lindenhurst Long Island, used to be a CVS, but now with high ceilings and sprawling wooden floors, they happened to host the gig of the summer this past Saturday, June 17th. With a five-band lineup featuring, MooseCreek Park, Prairie Fire, Bike Routes, Sainthood Reps, and Innerlove, as well as a surprise set from Long Island hardcore band Stand Still, Innerlove’s Roscoe album release party brought a special energy to this modest brewery on the corner.

Most of the bands being native to New York, with the exception of Bike Routes from New Jersey, made the gig more personal to the Long Island crowd and built excitement around the fact that New York is continuously home to many talented artists. Displaying so much passion and enthusiasm while playing for crowds at home brought the show to a new level, emphasizing the amazing community that has grown in local scenes.

The first opener MooseCreek Park, a young emo band from Long Island, immediately got the crowd comfortable, setting the tone for the rest of the show. Having the pleasure to capture photos of this band since the summer of 2022 has only further documented their tremendous growth. Expanding colossally since their last release, Moose’s new work is nothing short of masterful as they plan to release their first full album titled “Hope This Clears Things Up” this July 1st, 2023.

Following Innerlove’s release, a fresh and exciting rush of music is anticipated from other Long Island bands, as well as a sense of community that only continues to grow. These artists are endlessly dedicated and determined to perfecting and performing their work. Don’t forget to support your local scenes and enjoy the amazing work that consistently comes out of them.
