Incendiary @ Amityville Music Hall

Small venues can make or break a show. It is impossible to hide a dead crowd. But when it's live, it's really live. Incendiary’s performance at Amityville Music Hall could not be mistaken for a dead crowd with low energy. Everyone was packed like sardines from the entrance to the back door.
Opening acts from Private Mind and Vomit Forth were both incredible and refreshing. This wasn’t one of those shows where you didn’t miss anything by skipping the opening acts. As the night went on, there was a gradual increase in intensity and movement. Everyone was waiting for that moment when they finally graced the stage. After Incendiary got on stage for some final sound checks, no time was wasted. They started the set with “Still Burning” which set the standard for the rest of the show. The spirit from both the crowd and performers worked in tandem, with unmeasured amounts of energy. There was nothing more a fan could ask for.
Being a fan of the group, I could not help but lip sync and record some clips on my phone in-between shots. As intense as the crowd, the love from the fans still shone through. Almost everyone was willing to give up their spot momentarily so I could get better shots. After about three songs, I squeezed my way to the back to stand and enjoy the show. They set the bar up high and somehow pushed it higher. As the night went on, the more chaotic things got. Seeing bodies piling on top of each other like World War Z was a thing of beauty. All that was missing was Brad Pitt.
During the show they announced that they are working on, and will be releasing their fourth album. The eruption from the crowd couldn't be described as anything less than deafening. They then gifted the crowd by playing a new song on the upcoming project, “Jesus Bones.” From the first listen it was a slightly different sound than their previous work, but was genuinely great. They still haven't missed a step and the crowd's reaction solidifies that. The hype was made in that show for whenever the album is released. When it was finally time to close out the show, Incendiary knew exactly what they were doing. Closing out with the song “Primitive Rage” the crowd was in an absolute frenzy. If the band had decided they would play for another hour, no one in that venue would have objected.
The show was their eighth annual benefit show for Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown, New York. Brendan took some time in between songs to talk about the cause. They were able to raise $4,500. What more can you ask for? Raising money for a good cause while being able to see one of the best hardcore bands on Long Island. Every cent paid to that concert was worth it. Incendiary at the Amityville Music Hall was the perfect cap to the end of the year.
